Science Curriculum
3rd Grade
Course Purpose: |
Students will organize and use data to describe typical weather conditions expected during a particular season and devise plans to reduce the effects of hazardous weather events. |
Outcomes and Components:
SC.3.2 | Students will evaluate organisms in an area and describe environmental changes that may cause adaptations and affect the traits of those organisms.

SC.3.2.1 | Describe traits that are inherited in organisms. | 3-LS3-1
SC.3.2.2 |
Describe how internal and external structures of plants and animals support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction. |
4-LS1-1 | |
SC.3.2.3 | Describe how variation within organisms supports biodiversity. | 3-LS3-1
SC.3.2.4 | Describe and model the changes organisms go through during their life form a pattern (birth, growth, reproduction, death). | 3-LS1-1
SC.3.2.5 | Identify how life cycles can affect inheritance and adaptations. | 3-LS4-2
SC.3.2.6 | Identify and model how animals receive different types of information through their senses, processes the information in their brain, and respond to the information in different ways. | 4-LS1-2
SC.3.2.7 | Compare and contrast changes in the biodiversity of an area due to changes in the environment (migration, death, new organisms, adaptations, social groupings) | 3-LS2-1 |
